why do people snore?
why do people snore? any remedies to cure snoring without operations? any cure to it?
People snore because their airway is partially obstructed by the tongue while they are sleeping. Airways are more easily obstructed when they are sick- that is why people snore when they have a cold. Cures and remedies are hit or miss- it depends on the severity of the obstruction. There are over the counter solutions like the breath right strips that hold open nasal passages, the snorer could try stacking lots of pillows and sleeping in a more upright position. In very severe cases it is called sleep apnea and these people actually stop breathing for periods of time during sleep- these people need to see a doctor and wear a special breathing machine in their sleep.

I snore a lot - any remedies.?

You better check into the possiblity of Sleep Apnea. Snoring is a major symptom. I have it and had it for years before finding help. Overweight is another potential symptom. I was in my 40's when I found I was always soooo tired even though I slept well I thought. Finally I almost crashed head on after falling asleep at the wheel in broad daylight. My wife said I was gasping for air at night sometimes. I was not dreaming which was another syptom. Finally I had a sleep study done and I was shocked to find that I was having 74 episodes of difficulty breathing in a six hour study. My longest time without breathing was 2 minutes. Finally my oxygen level was supposed to be at 95% went down to 39%. It was making my heart enlarge, and my lungs were getting stiff from pulmonary hypertension. The first night I slept with my breathing machine I slept for 19 hours. That was 17 years ago. I am now 62 years old and a few days ago I was caught without my breathing machine to sleep with when I rushed to my wife's side at my son's house 250 miles away. We thought she was having a heart attack, but fortunately it was a false alarm. Driving her home the next day I found myself again falling asleep at the wheel even thought I again thought I had slept well the night before. I urge you to get checked there are 2 million people with sleep apnea in the US who are not aware of it. They range from a little girl 4 years old with NO weight problem to many many men your age and weight who do snore and do not ever really dream. Get it checked out, it is life threatening.
